Scottish Sessions at Pinewoods

Pinewoods Camp is located in a wooded area between Long Pond and Round Pond near Plymouth, Massachusetts. Classes and evening dances are held in wooden floored, open-sided pavilions. The ponds are used for swimming, canoeing, and an occasional aquatic strathspey. Housing is in small, screened cabins and cottages, and meals are served in a semi-open dining hall overlooking Long Pond. Modern bathroom and shower facilities are available at camp. Campers provide their own bed linen and towels, and everyone is asked to help with chores.

People come from all over to enjoy the connection of dance and music, and there is wonderful live music at all the classes and the dances each evening. One could call it an "extreme dance experience" because there is dancing available from morning 'til midnight every day, whether you choose to attend only one or more of the Scottish Dance classes. Instead of going back to your room and collecting ice from a machine after an evening full of wonderful dancing, imagine strolling down to one of the ponds and taking a wee dip to relieve aching muscles! There are also many opportunities to enjoy the people you meet there. There are theme parties to stretch your imagination as well as wine and cheese parties and after parties just to enjoy all your new friends. There are money raising auctions that leave you with aching cheeks from laughter, and Ceilidhs that draw across the talent and imagination of everyone there. All in all it is one of those experiences that is hard to leave and return to hum-drum life at home.
